I’ve decided to take a challenge outside my comfort zone.  I’m going to enter America’s Next Author contest!

I will be working on my 2,500 to 5,000 short story feverishly during the next few weeks so I can get it up as soon as possible.

America’s Next Author is somewhat like American Idol, except you won’t see me on stage flashing the phone number with my fingers to vote for me.

Rather, I’ll be asking visitors, Facebook peeps and my Twitter tweeps to help me out by taking out five minutes to read and leave a short starred review.  It’s going to be weird sitting in the other chair for a change!

Bonus ~ If you read and review 4 short stories (hopefully 1 of the 4 is mine!) you have a chance at winning an iPad!  Details are at http://www.ebookmall.com/americasnextauthor.

The combination of votes and the opinions of 4 official judges determine the winners.  I do hate to lose, so I’m going to give this my best shot.

I played with the idea of writing a contemporary story, but I’ve decided to stay true to my roots.  Historical fiction.  I have a story I started that I’m going to dust the moth balls off.

So, wish me luck in writing the most excellent short historical fiction story I can.
